Introducing our cracking Curious Investigators cas Introducing our cracking Curious Investigators cast for Tour 2024 🤩🎭

The egg-stremely talented Marica Cassandra and Harriet Gandy are leading the curious investigations as Scribble and Clipboard, the recycling duo who find our mysterious egg and need the audience’s help to look after it!

It’s great to have Marica with us again as the very inquisitive Scribble, after playing the role in both 2022 and 2023, while we’re really excited to welcome Harriet into the OTH fold as Clipboard! 🙌

And here they are, in costume and in rehearsals last week - it’s already shaping up to be a very fun tour with these two 🤩

Created in collaboration with experts from @lancaster_uni_engineering, this delightfully surprising and engaging family show has been hatched by One Tenth Human, commissioned by @bigimaginationsnw and is supported by @aceagrams through their National Lottery Project Grants.

The 2024 tour has also been supported by theatre networks House and In Good Company (@ingoodcompanymidlands) – we can’t wait to visit some of the fantastic venues & schools in their network & meet their fabulous young explorers! 🤩

We’re also delighted that thanks to support from the Westminster Foundation, Fort Vale Foundation, and Reece Foundation, we’ll be able to reach hundreds of children at schools in Lancashire and Teesside who otherwise wouldn’t be able to access our shows. Children at these schools will experience the show plus a free hands-on engineering workshop, and get to meet real diverse engineers via a live Zoom Q&A. We’re so grateful to all our supporters and partners who make this vital outreach work possible 😊

One Tenth Human are delighted to have received a £15,000 grant from the Garfield Weston Foundation to help support our work this year 🙌

This generous funding will help towards some of our core operating costs and allow us to deliver all of our projects this year, including nationwide tours of Curious Investigators, expanding Terri and the Time Machine to 13 Manchester schools, and the development of TWO new projects with and for amazing children in Northern England.

We’re hugely grateful to the @westonfdn for their support in creating more STEM-inspired cultural experiences for young audiences across the country 🎭

Brilliant questions from our trainee Year 3 engineers in our Terri & the Time Machine school sessions last week!

They were working with our Investigator Gideon (aka our Associate Artist Daniel Bye) and excellent real-life Engineers Zainab and Emmanuel from the Association for BME Engineers, who delivered expert advice!

Here at OTH, it’s hugely important to us to help young audiences learn about the value of our planet in exciting, inventive and engaging ways - from transforming recycling at home into sets and props to stories about how we can help make the world a better place.

    Happy #WorldTheatreDay 🎉 Our mission here at O Happy #WorldTheatreDay 🎉

Our mission here at OTH is to empower young audiences - to see children enjoy inventive shows and imaginative stories that reflect who they are and who they can be, in ways they might never have seen before 🤩

And, thanks to collaborating with brilliant artists, partners, funders and organisations, we’ve been able to share fun, exciting and engaging adventures with new audiences in new places – from theatre venues and village halls, to schools, community centres and libraries.

So, we just wanted to take a moment today to reflect on what a constant privilege it is to see what theatre can do and where it can go, how audiences and artists can build and create together, and the ways in which stories can spark joy and wonder in children and adults alike ✨

Looking forward to more adventures together! 🙌

H20 is water but what is H204? Swimming and drinking, of course!

The value of access to fresh and clean water is at the heart of our brand new interactive show Pipes & Poo, which uses dance moves, games and a gunge to take young people on a fun exploration of the chemistry and engineering of creating and transporting clean water 💧💧

We are very grateful to the @roysocchem for their funding support and so excited to be working with the brilliant Professor Siddarth V Patwardhan on bringing this project to life!

And you can whet (or should that be wet 😄) your appetite for the show with some water workshops that’ll be happening at Gallery Oldham over half term - so keep an eye out for more info on those!

“I’ve said it 100 times: the kids love it. It’s one of the best ways of teaching science that I’ve come across so far.”
- Hannah Phelan, Teacher

Happy #BritishScienceWeek folks! 🤩🙌

Here at One Tenth Human, we love to get creative with science and explore just how much children can learn when STEM and the arts come together! 🎭🔬

This is right at the centre of Terri & the Time Machine, a creative experiment with the brilliant @z.artsmcr: bringing the science curriculum to life through vivid storytelling, practical challenges, and creative classroom learning.

You see, with the help of Year 3 children, Investigator Terri creates a time machine – but finds herself trapped when the malfunctioning machine starts rocketing around in time and space. In an ongoing narrative of peril and adventure, can Year 3 work together to get her back?

Take a look at this video exploring our first year of delivering the project in three inner city Manchester schools.
